Cinephile Amadeo
Marquez-Perez has been a strong advocate for promoting film culture
to Australian and international audiences. With a background in Sociology
and Ethnographic film, he has a strong focus on story telling via a
documentary format. He has lectured in Cinema Studies at various Universities
such as Swinburne, Deakin and RMIT.
Amadeo established 15/15 Film Festival just over nine years ago, which
involves regional, interstate and international filmmakers. The Festival’s
reach extends from Bendigo to Puerto Rico and is a highly successful
cultural event that showcases and promotes screen culture through out
Australia and internationally. In addition to this, he has been actively
involved in the international film community and provides practical
workshops on film production to regional and rural Australia.
Amadeo has produced and collaborated with over 200 film projects including
two feature films The Magician and The Black Rose. He has collaborated
and worked on numerous film festivals and events in Australia and overseas,
these include Edinburgh Film Festival, Bangkok International Film Festival,
South West Film Festival, Real Life Film Festival and ATOM awards. Amadeo
was the Artistic Director for the Bayside
Film Festival from 2009 until 2011 and under his directorship
the Festival was highly successful.
